Developing Creative thinking and critical thinking in New Students

What is creative and critical thinking?

SMART Orientation Week is a good time to instill creative thinking  and critical thinking skillsets in our new students.  Creative thinking skills can be developed by urging our students look at problems or situations from a fresh perspective.  On the other hand, critical thinking is the process of rationalizing, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting information to make informed judgments and/or decisions.

The Skills We Need for Critical Thinking

The skills that we need in order to be able to think critically are varied and include observation, analysis, interpretation, reflection, evaluation, inference, explanation, problem solving, and decision making.

5 Ways To Improve Your Critical Thinking Skills

2. Control Your Mind.  Most of our thinking efforts goes on subconsciously.

3. Think Outside the Box.  Become better thinkers and be able to learn new things, come up with new strategies
